Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 23, 2026
Ask Your Genes (askyourgenes.ai) and Helios (helios.askyourgenes.ai) are operated by Happy To Help LLC, doing business as Human Performance Centers LLC ("HPC," "we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and the choices and rights you have. It covers both websites and the single account that works across them.
Plain summary: You upload your DNA file. We use it to show you what your genes say about you, in plain language, and to power a personalized dashboard. We store your file securely so you don't have to upload it again. We never sell your genetic data, never use it for advertising, and never share it with employers or insurers. You can delete everything at any time.
1. Who we are and how to reach us
The Service is operated by Happy To Help LLC (DBA Human Performance Centers LLC). For any privacy question or request, email ryder@hpcla.com. For users in the EU and UK, HPC is the data controller for your personal data.
2. The information we collect
- Your raw DNA export file. When you upload a DNA file (for example, an AncestryDNA or 23andMe export), we store it securely so your results persist across sessions and devices. We keep it until you delete it (see Section 7).
- Your account information. To use the Service you create an account — either with your email address and a password, or by signing in with Google. A single account works across askyourgenes.ai and helios.askyourgenes.ai.
- Your genetic interpretation. From your file we generate a structured profile of selected genetic variants and their plain-language meaning, which we store and associate with your account.
- Messages you send. If you use chat features, we process the questions you ask.
- Payment information. If you buy a paid feature, payment is handled by our processor, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Technical information. Like most websites, we collect basic log and device information, and we use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in across our sites.
3. Genetic data is sensitive — how we treat it
Genetic data is sensitive personal information (and a "special category" of data under EU and UK law). We process it only with your explicit consent, which you give when you upload your file and use the Service. You can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting your data.
We will never: - sell your genetic data; - use your genetic data for advertising; - share your genetic data with employers, insurers, or for any decision about your employment or insurance.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to: - parse your DNA file and generate your genetic profile, your genetic "story," and chat answers tuned to your variants; - provide your personalized Helios dashboard; - operate, secure, and improve the Service; - process payments and send you service-related email (for example, receipts or account messages).
To generate your profile, story, and chat answers, your genotypes and derived interpretations are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes them to produce text. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, your data is used to generate your results and is not used to train Anthropic's models.
5. Who we share information with (our service providers)
We share information only with the service providers we need to run the Service, each under their own terms and only for these purposes:
- Anthropic — generates your genetic profile, story, and chat answers.
- Supabase — our database, secure file storage, and login provider; this is where your DNA file and profile are stored.
- Stripe — processes payments. We do not store card details.
- Resend — sends our service email.
- Google — provides optional sign-in. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google verifies your identity and we receive your email address to create your account. Google does not receive your genetic data.
The current, canonical list of these providers — the data each receives and why — is maintained in our Sub-processor Registry.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if we are legally required to (for example, a valid court order); if that happens, we will disclose only what is required and will push back on requests that are overbroad.
6. How we protect your information
- Your DNA file is stored in a private, access-restricted file store. It is not publicly accessible and is reachable only by our secure server processes.
- Your profile and genetic data are stored in our database, linked to your account.
- Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
- We do not put identifiers for your data in web addresses (URLs).
No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit who and what can access it.
7. Your choices and deletion
You can delete your genetic data and your account at any time by emailing ryder@hpcla.com. When you delete, we remove your raw DNA file from our file store, your variants and interpretation from our database, and your account. We complete deletion in our active systems and backups within 30 days.
We keep your data only while you have an account, so the Service stays available to you — you don't need to keep it any longer than you want to.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data. We honor these rights for all users:
- Access — get a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction — fix inaccurate data.
- Deletion — delete your data (see Section 7).
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format.
- Objection / restriction — object to or limit certain processing.
- Limit use of sensitive data — because genetic data is sensitive, you can ask us to limit its use to providing the Service.
To exercise any right, email ryder@hpcla.com. We won't discriminate against you for using these rights. If you're in the EU or UK and believe we've mishandled your data, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
9. International data transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process your data in the United States and other countries. If you are in the EU or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses and our providers' data processing terms) to protect your data when it is transferred.
10. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect genetic data from minors. If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact ryder@hpcla.com and we will delete the data.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If we make a material change, we'll update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
